内容简介 《念师恩》是由英国小说家E.R布雷思韦特以第一人称形式撰写的一部关于师生关系的叙事性小说。小说主要描述了黑人教师布雷思韦特如何应对正处于叛逆期的学生们的逆反行为。主人公即黑人教师布雷思韦特在一所中学担任教学工作,他用自己独特的教育方式感化学生,亦被学生感化,最终成为学校同事和学生交口称赞的教师。翻译所选取的是《念师恩》中的第六至第九章。这四章主要叙述主人公初次到学校任职没几天,就遭到学生的抵触,主人公想方设法用自己的方式解决这些问题。第九章隐约透露出学生对待老师的态度发生了转变,为接下来故事的高潮部分做了铺垫。 第六章主要讲述了布雷斯韦特在格林斯雷德第一堂课时授课情况。黑人教师布雷思韦特初到格林斯雷德学校承担教学任务,校长举办欢迎会,把他介绍给学生们。随后,布雷思韦特给学生们上了第一节课,可是学生们却用言语表达出对他的抵触情绪。一名女教师给布雷思韦特传授了一些教学经验。 第七章主要讲述了学生用尽各种方法抵制布雷斯韦特。同事们关心地询问布雷思韦特第一天的任职情况。课堂上,学生们又以沉默的方式对待布雷思韦特。课后,学生们在私底下嘲讽他是一名黑人。 第八章主要讲述了学生们的一次抵制行为使得布雷斯韦特勃然大怒,他开始反省自己,想要用特殊方法去解决与学生之间的矛盾。从学校周五的总结报告中,布雷思韦特得知学生们并不在意自己。面对学生们时而冷漠,时而吵闹的态度,他想方设法去处理这些问题,但事态却变得更加严重。布雷思韦特被学生又一次的肆意行为所激怒,他愤然离开教室。冷静之后,他觉得自己应该采取更加独特的方式去处理问题。 第九章主要讲述了布雷思韦特决定将学生们作为成年人看待,旨在让学生明白他们需要对自己的所作所为负责。
INTRODUCTION TO SIR, WITH LOVE is a novel in which the author Braithwaite narrates his own working experience as a teacher and his way to deal with students. The novel describes a black man Braithwaite as a teacher in Greensland school, and students are in rebellious period, which makes a big problem for Mr.Braithwaite. As time goes by, Mr.Braithwaite influence students’ souls with his own educational methods and in turn he is deeply moved by students. As a result , Mr.Braithwaite gets high praise in both students and workmates. In my paper, I selected the novel’s chapter 6 to chapter 9 as translation material. The four chapters mainly describes the first time Mr.Braithwaite came to Greensland. In the next few days, students conflict with him all the time, while Mr.Braithwaite attempts to solve problems by all means. In chapter 9, it seems that students begin to change their attitude towards Mr.Braithwaite gradually, and this chapter attributes to the next high tide. Chapter 6 mainly describes Mr.Braithwaite’s first class. Mr.Braithwaite’s first day in Greensland School and Principal introductes him to all of students and teachers in reception. After that, Mr.Braithwaite gives his first class, however, students are against him with bad words. Then a woman teacher comes to him and gives him some advice. Chapter 7 mainly describes students use different ways to against him. Colleagues are care of Mr.Braithwaite’s first day in Greensland, and ask about his first day experience. In class, students treat him with reticence. And after class, students sneer at him that he is a Negro in privately. Chapter 8 mainly describes when students show their conflict again, Mr.Braithwaite is infuriated and he realizes that he should take some special methods to solve problems. In Friday Weekly Review, Mr.Braithwaite know that students do not care about him at all. Students sometimes show hubbub, but sometimes they are reticent. So Mr.Braithwaite tries every means to solve these troubles. However, it makes things worse. One time, Mr.Braithwaite is irritated with students, and he leaves angrily. When he is calm down, he decides to take some special methods to solve problems. Chapter 9 mainly describes Mr. Braithwaite determines to treat students as adults with a purpose of making students know they should be responsible for what they have done. |
