Abstract:Pun refers to a form of a word play with two or more meanings by exploiting multiple meanings of words or similar-sounding words .English advertisements have become a key tool in business. English advertisements have various kinds of figures of speech and distinctive fascination. With the application of puns which are concise, humorous and witty, it has highlighted the characteristics of products. This paper mainly deals with the translation of pun in English advertisements. This paper illustrates the definition of pun, especially its features and it also introduces the translation method of corresponding translation, free translation and conversion translation. Meanwhile is puts forward some tips on translating pun in English advertisements as well as the typical application of pun in English advertisements in order to emphasize its importance in daily usage both for advertisers and to target readers. It aims to demonstrate the importance of grasping the gist of pun in English advertisements for the commercial good and skill improvement. Key words: English Advertisement; Translation;Pun
