Abstract:This thesis does research on the Application and Translation of Abbreviations in Business English. Since china carried out the policy of opening-up to the outside world and entered the World Trade Organization, commercial transactions with other nations are becoming more and more universal. Business English has become increasingly important. Abbreviations, a part of business English word, play an crucial role in life, communication and international trade. This paper aims to make readers have a good understanding of abbreviations in Business English and know how to use as well as translate them accurately. This thesis introduces two different aspects of abbreviations used in international trade: international trade terms and business letters, and finally sums up several translation methods: transliteration, free translation, conversion and extension meaning.
