Under such a background, the translation of dish names, which is closely related to daily life, arouses a wide concern. This paper chiefly applies Skopos Theory in making an analysis of the translation of dish names in A Dream of Red Mansions. Taking Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang. Tayler’s version as an example, specific suitable translation strategies and methods are summarized according to the translation purpose, in order to shed some light on introducing Chinese traditional dietary culture to the world.
