教材内容分析

This unit is the fifth unit in the first volume of the eighth grade textbook Go For It. The topic of this unit is “Do you want to watch a game show?” It focuses on talking about different types of TV programs and personal preferences. Specifically, it involves the name of TV programs and students’ opinions on different TV programs.Section A is for  the collection and study of basic language points. It requires students to master the English names of some common types of TV programs,such as talk show,sitcom,news and so on, and make a simple conversation with general questions of “do” and special questions of “what” to express one’s preference for a TV program.Section B further develops students' basic knowledge and comprehensive language application ability on the basis of section A. Specifically, guides students to remember and use some descriptive adjectives, such as “wonderful”, “relaxing”, “meaningless” and so on, and let students talk about TV shows and their personal preference.At the same time, Section B also arranges some reading and writing tasks. Teachers can integrate the teaching contents of this unit in the teaching process and guide students to write simple essays. TV program is a practical and interesting topic for students. They will be more likely to participate in the classroom activities.
