教材内容分析

This unit is the second unit in the first volume of senior high school English of Foreign Version. This unit mainly talks about learning English and exploring English and it is relevant to students. Starting from the introduction of history of English, this unit presents some learning contents such as the diversity and creativity of English, English word formation, the differences between British English and American English, unfamiliar English expressions, and misunderstanding expressions in English, etc. This unit aims to enrich students’ knowledge of English, stimulate students’ interest in learning English, guide students to think about the learning of English, and finally improve the English learning methods and strategies. In the first part of unit 2, students are able to discuss the current situation of English through the charts. And they can know some differences between American English and British English. Then they can practice their oral English by describing specific information of charts. In the second period, students can understand the meaning of passage which reflects the diversity and creativity of English. And the passage can make students be interested in learning English. At the same time, students’ reading skills can be improved. Then word formation can help students improve the way of expanding vocabularies. And listening can improve students’ listening ability. In the next period, students can know some English expressions that may cause misunderstanding. Students can think some questions in the English way, and develop cultural awareness. And in the last period, students can write a short story independently. Meanwhile, this part can improve students’ writing ability.
