Abstract: This study aims to investigate the significance of classroom instructions to middle school’s classroom English teaching. The paper introduces the definition of classroom instructions and elaborates on their characteristics and the teachers’ proper use of classroom instructions. Based on the findings concerning the issue under discussion from some related literature review and the related descriptions on the Internet, it is pointed out in the paper that the teachers’ proper use of classroom instructions is of great significance to students’ English learning. However, in the real English classroom, there are many problems with the practice of classroom instructions, especially in such aspects as non-standardized expressions, pronunciation, intonation and the inappropriate speed of speaking and so on. Accordingly, several suggestions are proposed with a view to establishing a better environment for students’ English learning.
