Abstract: This thesis aims to expound how to enhance teaching efficiency of oral class for English majors by means of applying American TV series to the oral English teaching process. Traditional oral class has achieved a little in improving speaking skills of English majors while the existing problems in it also make the course futile and redundant. This thesis analyzes those problems and put forward possible countermeasures in allusion to each problem. Furthermore, this thesis discusses the effects of American TV series on oral teaching and the application of American TV series to the oral class. The writer hopes to intensify students’ desire for practicing oral English and arouse their interest in English. Key words: American TV series;English majors;oral English teaching;Teaching efficiency
