Abstract: The teaching approach is very important in teaching, especially in English teaching. According to the New English Curriculum, the Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT) is a new trend in language teaching, which advocates that students are supposed to be in the predominant position in classes instead of learning passively. TBLT encourages students to think independently by themselves and learn to study through practice. The new method can help to stimulate students’ learning interest and develop their ability to learn. The essay aims to introduce the basic definition and characteristics of TBLT, to study and analyze the application of TBLT in English classes in middle schools in order to increase students’ interest in mastering English, to establish their confidence in learning English and to develop their ability in language learning.
Key words: TBLT; English teaching; application
