Abstract: With the rapid development of China’s economy, the tourism of China has developed increasingly. At the same time, tourism translation has become more and more important. The aim of tourism translation is to provide tourism information and attract more tourists from domestic and overseas. This paper discusses the effective approaches of tourism translation from the view of functionalist approaches. Functional translation theory is a broad concept, which includes not only skopos theory, but also includes “functional equivalence theory” and “txt classification”. In the practicable translation activities, skopos theory is more useful and acceptable. In this paper, the author applies functionalist approaches to tourism translation, and discusses the situation of tourism translation to improve the quality of C-E tourism translation so as to contribute to the development of China’s international tourism industry.
