中文摘要：本文主要通过对红楼梦杨宪益译本以及霍克斯译本进行对比研究，进而分析两个译本对于红楼梦这一中国古典名著中人名翻译之异同。我们发现两个著名的翻译家在对红楼梦中人物的姓名进行翻译时，既有相似之处也有不同之处。两种译本采取的人名翻译方法各有优缺点。造成异同的原因也各不相同。语言是文化的载体，因而在对红楼梦人物之姓名进行翻译之时，译者必须站在文化交流的角度之上，对不同文化进行严谨的研究与调查。只有这样才能找到最合适的翻译方法，从而促进不同文化之间的交流与合作。
