中文摘要：  禁忌是一种非常普遍的文化现象，每一个民族的语言都有着属于自己特色的禁忌语，它存在于日常生活的各个领域。禁忌语之间的差异反映了人们思维方式的不同，而文化是决定人们思维方式的最终因素。了解英汉禁忌语之间的差异可以在跨文化交际中避免误解，使跨文化交际得以成功。了解和把握这种文化差异，有利于消除跨文化交际的障碍，实现跨文化交际的目的。

本文通过比较英语与汉语中的禁忌语的不同，从宗教中的禁忌语、政治中的禁忌语、年龄中的禁忌语和数字中的禁忌语方面,来分析中西禁忌语差异的原因，以减少或避免因禁忌语差异带来的跨文化交际问题。
