摘要：简·奥斯汀（1775-1817）是十九世纪英国文学史上最伟大的女性现实主义小说家之一。爱情和婚姻始终作为关键词贯穿简.奥斯汀的小说。《傲慢与偏见》中，作者通过对四组婚姻的描述，充分地表达了自己的婚姻观即金钱和爱情都是婚姻中必不可少的因素。她推崇婚恋中女性要不畏权威、打破束缚，勇于追求以自由平等为原则的爱情和婚姻。《爱玛》中，除体现前期作品中的平等自由外，更加强调在婚恋过程中男女双方的内心沟通和精神共鸣，体现出更进一步的思想交流。作者更注重婚恋中男女双方的自我反思、相互适应以达到思想和精神上的交流和契合。这也是《爱玛》中婚姻观较之《傲慢与偏见》中婚姻观的进步意义。

简·奥斯汀在《傲慢与偏见》与《爱玛》中所体现的婚姻观，在当代仍然具有很大的现实意义。简·奥斯汀的婚姻观让读者尤其是女性读者明白勇敢追求平等自由的爱情是女性的权利，要树立正确的婚姻观，婚姻中爱情和物质基础都是不可或缺的，婚姻中双方的互相尊重、相互包容和相互理解也同样不可忽视。

ABSTRACT

A Study on the View of Marriage in Pride and Prejudice and Emma

Jane Austin (1775-1817) was one of the greatest female realistic novelists in the history of English literature in the 19th century. Love and marriage are always the key words in Jane Austin’s novels. In Pride and Prejudice, the author fully depicts her view of marriage by describing four groups of marriage, that is, money and love are both the essential factors in a marriage. She praises highly that females shouldn’t be afraid of authority. They should break up constraint and have the courage to pursue  the love and marriage, where freedom and equality are the basic principles. In Emma, it not only reflects the ideas of freedom and equality, but also emphasizes the heartfelt communication and spiritual resonance. This kind of communication shows a further exchange of thoughts as its progressive significance. In this novel, Jane Austin pays more attention on self-reflection of males and females. She thinks that the mutual adaptation can reach the communication and resonance in mind and spirit during the love and marriage.

The views of marriage in Pride and Prejudice and Emma have the great practical significance even at the present times. Jane Austin’s view of marriage makes readers understand that they have the power to pursue the freedom and equality in marriage. And they should establish the right view of marriage before they get married. Love and material basis are both indispensable. Meanwhile, the mutual respect, tolerance and understanding are all important and they can’t be ignored.
