Abstract:Garcia Marquez is a world-renowned Latin American writer in the 20th century, an outstanding representative of magic realism novels. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his One Hundred Years of Solitude in 1982. Love in the Time of Cholera was published in 1985. It was the first novel about love in nearly 40 years of his literary career. Therefore, when the work came out, it was an immediate success and won wide critical acclaim. The novel describes a love story of Fermina and Ariza that lasts more than half a century. With the emotional entanglements of Ariza and Fermina, and the traditional marriage between Urbino and Fermina as the mainline, the story ends with the eternal fidelity and everlasting love. The novel successfully describes different types of love. It is known as the "Encyclopedia of Love." In recent years, most of the domestic and foreign scholars on the study of Love in the Time of Cholera mainly focus on character traits, writing styles, artistic techniques, social and family ethics, but there is still a lack of systematic and comprehensive analysis of their love themes. Hence, based on previous research, through the literature review and textual reading, this paper will analyze the psychology and behavior of the heroine in each stage of the novel, to explore the development and change of her love concept from the angle of feminist. It will also analyze the social and historical factors that cause such love view, and shows the author's high praise for the heroine's firmness and courage in the pursuit of love.
