教材内容分析

This unit is the third unit in the first volume of Grade 8 Go for it. This unit mainly focuses on the use of comparative degree. Students are supposed to master some grammar expressions about comparative degree and learn to talk about personal traits. The most important thing for students is to learn to compare people with target language accurately. From the perspective of the integration of the textbook, the content of this unit not only 

contains a continuation of usage of adjectives, but also lays the foundation for learning the following superlatives of  adjectives. In addition, this unit is not only the basic language 

content of the textbook, but also lays a solid foundation for the knowledge expansion and 

comprehensive language application in the future. Therefore, good teaching effects of Section A can not only make the knowledge learning have a certain continuity, but also 

pave the way for the following teaching, which is of great significance to the completion 

of this unit and the following English teaching. Listening and speaking activities, reading activities and collaborative activities are all centered on the usage of comparative degree. Students can further talk about personal traits and compare people so that they can know about other people around them more deeply. The reading materials for this unit are three short passages about different ideas on friends from three persons. The post-reading activities enable students to reproduce the information in the text through free talk and reciting, which can not only deepen the understanding of the article, but also prepare for the writing later. The topic of “talk about personal traits and compare people” is close to students’ life, which can easily arouse students' interest in learning and make them willing to participate in relevant activities.

Knowledge objectives:

1.Students can master some words about characteristics of a person and some 

sentence patterns that are used to compare different people or objects.

2.Students can recall the grammar rules about changing adjectives or adverbs into 

their comparative forms and master the important grammar focus of this unit.

3.Students can master the important words and expressions in the reading materials.

Ability objectives:

1.Students can use the important words and the sentence patterns to describe the 

traits of someone clearly or compare different people.

2.Students can learn to integrate the information to describe personality and compare      different objects.

Emotion objectives:

1.Students can actively cooperate with others and cultivate the spirit of cooperation.

2.Students can pay attention to themselves and the people around them by 

comparing themselves with someone else.

3.Students can learn interpersonal respect and understanding of  other people’s 

preference.

Students can understand the meaning of a true friend and learn to cherish and love       their friends.
