教材内容分析

This unit is the fourth unit in the first volume of Grade 7 Go for it. This unit mainly focuses on the communicative function of “talking about the names and location of items”, and enables students to know how to ask and answer the locations of items and personal things by using the prepositions “on/in/under”. At the same time, this unit can cultivate students to develop good habits of being clean, neat, and reasonable placement of personal things. In Section A, students are supposed to use some prepositions like “on/in/under” to describe the location of items. This part also presents some nouns about furniture and personal things, so that students can understand the concepts of countable nouns and uncountable nouns. Through observation and comparison, students are able to summarize the grammar structure of special question guided by “where” and its answer. Students are able to grasp more listening skills by listening practice. Section B introduces more vocabulary about personal things. More listening and speaking activities, reading activities, collaborative activities and writing practices are all involved in this part and centered on the location of items. Students can further communicate with their partners about the location of items, reflect on different habits of putting things and explore the clean and tidy habits of putting things in order. The reading material for this unit is an introduction of Kate. Kate talks about her habits of putting things and compares her habit with her sister Gina, whose habits are disorder. The while-reading activities enable students to draw a mind map according to the passage, which deepen the understanding of the article. The post-reading activities asks students to make a survey about where their classmates’ things are, which is good to prepare for the writing later. So the topic of “talking about the location of personal things” is close to students’ life, and can easily arouse students' interest in learning and make them form a good habit of putting things in order.
