《伽勒和基特》是美国作家贝丝·弗拉贝尔于 2017 年 9 月发表的一部儿童文学小说。小说主要关注两位少年伽勒和基特的友情故事。通过比较两位主人公的生活环境和人际关系，强调了两位主人公的纯洁友谊，突显了青少年对待家庭关系的真实心理描写。这是一个反映当代青年成长过程的故事。

我选择了《伽勒和基特》的第 1-2 章作为翻译实践。这部分作为小说的开头，起到了铺垫全文的作用，主要讲述了伽勒和基特的相识过程，并介绍了伽勒的家庭背景和身体状况，以及他对家庭的内在抵触情绪。同时，这部分还描述了基特在自由环境中长大的生活背景，因此与伽勒的生活环境形成鲜明的对比，生活背景以及身体条件差距很大的两个人成为了秘密的小伙伴，一起经历了许多奇特美妙的故事。

论文最后一部分是翻译实践报告，其中分为四个部分：1.翻译的内容简介；2.翻译的过程；3.翻译中所遇到的问题以及解决方法；4.总结。报告主要说明翻译的过程中所运用到的翻译理论和方法与实践相结合，例如翻译的目的论，儿童文学的翻译策略等相关的翻译理论应用到《伽勒和基特》的翻译中去。

INTRODUCTION

Caleb and Kit is a children's literary novel published by American author Beth Vrabel in September 2017. The novel mainly focuses on the friendship stories of two teenagers, Caleb and Kit. By comparing the living environment and interpersonal relationships of the two protagonists, the novel emphasizes the pure friendship between the two protagonists, and also highlights the true psychological description of adolescents' treatment of family relations. It is a story that reflects the growth of contemporary youth.

I chose Chapters 1-2 of Caleb and Kit as the translation practice. These two chapters are the opening of the novel, which serves as a cushion for the full text. It mainly  covers  the  process  of  Caleb’s  and  Kit’s  acquaintance,  and  introduces  the family background and physical condition of Caleb， and his inner resistance to   his family. At the same time, it also introduces the living environment of Kit, who is brought up in a free environment which is in sharp contrast to the living environment of Caleb. Caleb and Kit, whose life backgrounds and physical conditions are totally different, have become secret partners, experiencing many wonderful events together.

The last part of the thesis is the practical report on translation, which is divided into four parts: 1. Introduction; 2. The process of translation; 3. Problems arising from translation and solutions to them; 4. Conclusion. The report mainly describes the translation theories and methods applied are combined with practice in the process of translation, for example, Skopostheory of translation, translation strategies of children's literature and other relevant translation theories are applied to the translation of Caleb and Kit.
