小说《派克斯》由美国著名女作家莎拉·潘尼培克撰写。作品主要讲述了一个叫彼得的男孩和他的狐狸派克斯因战争被迫分离，却又因对彼此的思念而最终团聚在一起的感人故事。该作品主题深刻，具有很强的启迪性。

本翻译选择了其中的第一－第五章。第一章主要讲述彼得在父亲的带领下，被迫去森林里放生派克斯。尽管有诸多不舍，但是迫于战争的残酷现实和父亲的压力，彼得还是留下派克斯和它最爱的玩具，跟着父亲驱车而去。第二章主要讲述彼得被送到祖父家生活，但是他心里却一直想念着派克斯，担心着派克斯。最后，他终于下定决心独自一人去寻找派克斯。第三章主要介绍了派克斯独自在外生活的经历。第四章介绍了彼得在寻找派克斯的路途中迷了路，而且还遇到了小偷等种种困难，但是他仍然没有放弃寻找派克斯。第五章将视角转向狐狸派克斯，介绍了派克斯在树林里遇到了其他狐狸，他的领土遭到了威胁，但是他仍然坚守着自己的领土，等待着彼得来寻找它。

在翻译实践后，译者就翻译的主要作品、翻译时所遇到的困难，以小论文形式做了总结性陈述。在翻译时，遇到了三个问题，第一：在遇到一词多义时，不知道如何选择正确的词义，第二：对文章中大量对话，以及环境描写翻译不准，第三是翻译心理活动句子翻译不准。遇到这些问题时，我会请教我的导师、借助字典等办法去解决问题。

INTRODUCTION

The novel PAX is written by a famous American woman writer Sara Pennypacker. It mainly focuses on a touching story between a boy named Peter and his fox called Pax, who were separated by the war and then united finally by the missing feeling of each other. The theme of this work is profound and enlightening. 

This translation work selects the first to the fifth chapters of the novel. The first chapter is about Peter being led by his father and forced to go to the forest to set Pax free. Under the harsh realities of the war and the pressure of his father, Peter abandoned the fox and his favorite toy, and then took a French leave with his father despite all the reluctance. The second chapter tells that Peter was sent to his grandfather's house, but he's always missing Pax and worrying about Pax very much. At last he made up his mind to find Pax alone. The third chapter mainly describes the experience of Peter’s living alone outside searching for Pax. The fourth chapter narrates that Peter lost his way in the search of Pax, and encountered many difficulties. However, he insisted on looking for Pax. Chapter five switches the role of narration to the fox, who met another fox in the woods. Though threatened by the fox, Pax still stood his ground, waiting for Peter to find him.

Followed this translation practice, a conclusive article was written to summarize the translator’s work. I encountered some difficulties in translation. Firstly, in case of polysemy, I don't know how to choose the correct meaning of word. Secondly, there is a lot of dialogue in the article, as well as is not allowed. When I encountered these problems, I would consult my tutor and used a dictionary to solve the problem.
