内容简介

此次翻译实践选取美国作家凯蒂·卡徒诺《99天》中第9至第15章的文本。该书以青少年的爱情为主线展开描写,故事情节矛盾重重、跌宕起伏,引发读者深思,告诫青少年应树立正确的世界观、人生观及价值观。

本论文主要分为两部分:翻译部分和小论文部分。

《99天》具有完整的故事情节、鲜明的人物形象以及具体的环境描写,作者运用灵活多变的艺术手法,多角度展现社会现实。该书描写了女主人公在大学前的夏日里一波三折的爱情经历,因其复杂多变的性格,她在爱情中不能够很好地去做决定,因此引发人际关系混乱以及爱情的背叛。此部爱情小说的意义是让读者透过复杂的人物关系、曲折的故事情节来认清生活的复杂与现实并且从中学会如何去爱。

小论文部分简单介绍了作品以及翻译过程中所遇到的问题以及所采取的解决方案,并总结了在翻译过程中所得到的经验教训和获得的启示。在小说翻译过程中,因两国文化具有差异性,许多读者难以理解作者的表达方式及其语言风格,因此应寻找合适的翻译方法。鉴于本书面向的读者大多为青少年,所以应将低俗词语翻译得尽量文雅;在此篇翻译实践中还采用了异化与归化翻译相结合的翻译方法,既要顾及原作及作者,尽可能把原文的内容和风格准确生动的表达出来,同时还要顾及译文的读者,翻译出的文章要尽可能接近读者,便于读者理解和接受。

 

INTRODUCTION 

The translation is based on the Chapter 9 to 15 of the novel 99 Days, which was written by American author Katie Cotugno. The novel was published in 2015 by Balzer Bray. The author takes the love of teenagers as the main line to write the story of the contradiction and its ups and downs, which can arouse the readers’ resonance, thus warning teenagers to set up the correct word outlook, outlook on life and the values.

This thesis is mainly divided into two parts, the translation part and the essay part.

-99 days has the complete story plot, the vivid character image and the specific environment description. The author uses flexible and changeable artistic techniques to show the social reality in many ways. It describes the adventures of the heroine in the summer before college. Her complicated personality makes her unable to make good choices in love, thus causing confusion in relationships and the betrayal of love. The significance of this love story is to make readers realize the complexity and reality of life and learn how to love through a sophisticated character relationship and tortuous plot. 

The essay part briefly introduces the work and the problems arising from translation and solutions to them. It also summarizes the experience and enlightenment acquired during the translation process. It is difficult for Chinese readers to understand the pattern of expression and the language style of the authors’ because of cultural differences, so I would find the appropriate translation methods. Since most of the readers of this book are teenagers, the translation of vulgar words should be as elegant as possible. In this translation practice, foreignization and domestication are also adopted. Both the original work and the author should be taken into account, and the content and style of the original works should be expressed in an accurate and vivid way. Meanwhile, the translation should be considered as close to the readers as possible, so that readers can understand and accept them.
